Freeport McMoRan Inc. has regained permission to export copper concentrate from Indonesia after a six-month standstill, said an official with the mining company.

Freeport McMoRan Inc. has regained permission to export copper concentrate from Indonesia after a six-month standstill, said an official with the mining company.

Freeport is one of a number of companies which has got the export license from the government after the implementation of new regulations related to the export of minerals in January, as reported by Reuters.

"We must make preparations before we can begin to export. Already completed all licensing issues," said Freeport Indonesia President Director Rozim Sutjipto.

"We have signed an MoU with the government, we have put a guarantee seriousness to make the mineral processing plant (smelter) and we got a recommendation from the director general ... From there we went to the Ministry of Commerce and received licenses to export," said Sutjipto.

The AFP news agency wrote that the company can export more than 750,000 tonnes of concentrate in the next six months.

Sutjipto said the company expects to start shipments of concentrate in August. BBC
