Association of Indonesian Tour and Travel Agencies (Asita) and the Association of Flight Ticket Sales Indonesia (Astindo) estimated it suffered the loss of a deposit fund of Rp 60 billion. The amount represents deposits of funds delivered to the agent in Jakarta airline Adam Air, Mandala Air and Batavia Air.

"That's just the basic assumption when one agent or travel to deposit Rp 15 million for a single recharge (top up). Fact, there is also a deposit of up to Rp 100 million," said Chairman Elly Hutabarat Astindo during a press conference at the office of the Indonesian Tourism Society Jakarta, Monday (02/04/2013).

However, Elly reluctant to value losses based on each airline. But, specifically Batavia Air, it expects losses of Rp 18 billion to Rp 20 billion.

According to Elly, it regrets Batavia Air is not immediately responsible for the return of passenger tickets. However, he said, the agency or travel will be the first target for the passenger to request a ticket refund has not yet returned.

In its current state, it demands the Batavia Air ticket refund deposits that have been deposited following statement airlines stop operation began on Thursday (01/31/2013). Elly said the bankruptcy decision is disastrous for Batavia Air flight ticket vending business or travel agent members Astindo.

"We deeply regret this incident occurred again for the umpteenth time and make the travel agent again as those who sacrificed," he said.

He said the claim was an absolute return fund deposits should be done because of the travel agent is a proprietary travel agents, are not part of the airline's assets. According to him, deposit funds paid to the travel agent to issue Batavia Air ticket booking or reservation that has been made. With this kind of payment system, he said, meaning the airline operations financed by the travel agent.

It also urged the Ministry of Transportation released a regulation on the placement of the travel agent in order to deposit the funds deposited in the escrow account or a joint account in a third party to be drawn by the travel agent when the airline stopped operating.
